In 2022, there were 189,000 artists with at least one ticketed concert or event, demonstrating professional activity outside streaming.īased on these estimates, more than a quarter of these professionally aspiring artists generated more than $10,000 in payouts from Spotify alone last year (suggesting more than $40,000 from total recorded revenue sources, and more when you consider touring, merch, and other business lines). We also see this through our integrations with Songkick, Ticketmaster, and dozens of other live and virtual ticketing partners: There are 213,000 artists who have released at least ten songs all-time (meaning they have a body of work to earn from) and average at least 10,000 monthly listeners (meaning they have been able to attract the beginning of an audience).Of the nine million people who have uploaded any music to Spotify, 5.6 million have published fewer than 10 songs all time - indicating that they may be very early in their journey, approaching music as a hobby, or not leveraging streaming as part of their career path.We estimate that there are around 200,000 professional or professionally aspiring recording acts globally. It leads to a large canyon that leads the player to the Arctic Spires Cache and then to the Arctic Spires. There is an entrance located in the northern section of the Glacial Basin across a bridge. It would appear the sea level has dropped since the ice spires formed, or the spires were thrust upwards, as the spires each have a large mass of ice a short way up above the floor, implying that this was once the level of the surrounding ice sheet. This is a frozen landscape, with a flat ice sheet broken up by huge spires of ice jutting up from below. If you are going to travel into that ice biome, then I would advise to have an escape plan or take the Seatruck if you have crafted it. Thankfully, there are the hole fish that can save your life, but if there are none, you are basically screwed. Getting caught under the ice floats is the worst thing that can happen to you because you know you are gonna die, but you can’t do anything about it. Try your best to stay close to the surface until you have a vehicle. Prioritize getting the Seatruck or the Seaglider, and if you don’t have that, make an Airbladder so you can safely reach the surface of the water quickly. If you don’t have any sort of vehicle, avoid going down deep into any biome or cave. After talking through blog comments and chatting on twitter, Regan and I finally met at FNCE in 2011 and became friends IRL. I shortly teamed up with her Recipe Redux group to post healthy themed recipes each month. I didn’t realize that blogging was more about community than it was about publishing content and developing a brand and Regan taught me that right away. Check that these preview audio files are named the same way as the MPC kits themselves.įor example, if your. If you experience this, go into the folder for the MPC Kits that you created with Kit Maker. This can result in the preview not correctly playing for that kit. However, in some cases, the way Native Instruments names the Preview files is different from the way that they name their Kits. Maschine Expansions will typically contain previews for MPC which will be copied over. Fortunately, the vast majority of pads do transfer fine.Note that some kits that are created are made with a slightly different name than their original Maschine kit name, such as Abbey Road 50s being shortened to "AR50s." There are also a few occasions where a Maschine kit will use samples from a sampled instrument, which wasn't made directly for that kit.The result is that some kits will have a few blank spots in them. Unfortunately these do not work as well with Kit Maker, but luckily most Expansions primarily use. Some Expansions heavily rely on these synthesized sounds, such as the expansion "Lazer DIce", which uses a lot of computer generated drum sounds. In some cases, drum sounds are generated live inside the Maschine software, such as in the kit "3l3ktro" from the Factory Library. There are sometimes software synths and basses that are synthesized "live" and not made of samples, and thus, don’t have. This is because, in the original Maschine Kits, these pads’ sounds are generated live inside the Maschine software. You access these from the All Groups tab: This offers you even greater flexibility than using the BATTERY Kits. The MASCHINE Kits additionally include insert effects as well as MASSIVE, MONARK, PRISM and Drum Synth presets. However, those same BATTERY Kits are available in the native MASCHINE format. BATTERY 4 is also included with our KOMPLETE NOW subscription bundle. There are cloud-based rendering services for both SketchUp and Blender, which will drastically reduce the amount of time it takes for these powerful renderings. Photorealistic Renderingsīoth SketchUp and Blender can utilize plug-ins for producing breathtaking photorealistic renderings. SketchUp tends to stick with bare-minimum tools and commands, while Blender has an almost unlimited number of tools. When push comes to shove, I have to admit that either of these programs can produce some quality models with intricate shapes. Overall, Blender has an exciting story, so it is easy to get on board with the mission.Ĭomparable Features Of SketchUp and Blender: 1. Blender has adopted some of the modes made by users as part of their interface. Independent developers are always creating code for new features. Since then, Blender has continued to develop with the support of donations from people who love the software. By this time, Blender had developed an enthusiastic following of users who didn’t want to see Blender die, so Ton established Blender as a non-profit company. They received investments, but couldn’t make the necessary sales, so NaN went belly-up. In 1998, Ton developed a new company called Not a Number (NaN) to develop Blender to sell for profit. In 1995 Ton started the project of developing in-house software for their specific needs. In the Netherlands, a man by the name of Ton Roosendaal worked for a company called NeoGeo. Origins of Blenderīlender’s origins are fascinating. It is their product, and they can do with it whatever they please. I don’t have anything against that, of course. These days I am starting to understand that a company like Google has the funds to develop free software, establish it, market it, and then sell it for a considerable profit. How could professional programmers sit around developing and supporting a product and not get paid for it? I used to think free software made no sense. After many successful years, a company named Trimble purchased SketchUp. It was completely free, so it caught the eye of a lot of college architecture students. In 2000, Google released SketchUp into the world. It contains such a deep library of tools that you will never learn them all! There’s nothing you can’t model in Blender. Blender does everything from modeling, sculpting, particle physics effects, character animation, video editing, game programming, etc. This software has been in development for a while, running on the generosity of donors.Īs I said before, I didn’t expect much from Blender because it’s free, but I’m blown away by its limitless capabilities. Blender is for character and environment animation for video games and movies. However, as I’ve researched this software, I have become impressed! Blender fulfills an entirely different need than SketchUp. If you’re like me, then as soon as you heard that Blender is free, you assumed it must not be very good. That’s one of the first things you learn about Blender. If you are looking for software to help with one of these disciplines, then SketchUp is the right choice versus Blender. One of its more recent achievements is the power to create industry-standard construction drawings. In addition to the core platform, plug-ins and extension enable SketchUp to produce some top-notch professional renderings. SketchUp’s core program excels at this type of work. Designers are less concerned with physics and simulations and are much more concerned with shape and design. SketchUp is a 3D modeling program for architectural design disciplines, especially architects, interior designers, and landscape architects. Wow! How simple is this!? I thought to myself. Within minutes, I was drawing boxes, push/pulling, making shapes, arranging them into a little cityscape and outdoor space. I downloaded the file and opened up SketchUp for the first time. One day in class, someone mentioned, “Hey, have you heard of SketchUp? It’s free and effortless to use.” In hindsight, 3DS Max is bad for architectural design, so we gave up on it. I was majoring in Landscape Architecture, and some of my classmates and I were dabbling in 3D programs like 3DS max. I remember first using SketchUp in college. The portion of the nitrocellulose membrane, touching the gel should be gently removed using a blade. Fragments are pulled towards the nitrocellulose filter membrane by capillary action and result in the formation of an imprint or blot of the gel. A sheet of nitrocellulose membrane is placed on top of (or below, depending on the direction of the transfer) the gel and gentle pressure is applied evenly to the gel (either using suction or by placing a stack of paper towels and a weight on top of the membrane and gel), to ensure good and even contact between gel and membrane. The process is done by either electroblotting or capillary blotting. Although this step determines the name of this technique “Southern blotting,” the term is typically used to describe the entire procedure. DNA thus obtained are double-stranded, and is therefore denatured to single-stranded DNA by dipping the gel in an alkaline solution.īlotting refers to the transfer of the fragmented DNA sequence to the nitrocellulose membrane or nylon membrane. Acrylamide gels can alternatively be used for good resolution of smaller DNA fragments (<800 bp). DNA loading buffer, TBE Buffer for electrophoresis Steps involved in Southern blotting Southern blotting technique.Enzymes: restriction nucleases, RNase A.Cellulose nitrate or nitrocellulose membrane filter with uniform porosity. The probe also has a radioactive atom or a fluorescent dye label, that following hybridization, permits the DNA fragment of interest to be detected from different DNA fragments present on the membrane. The membrane is then treated with a small piece of DNA or RNA called a probe, which has a complementary sequence to the target DNA. Following separation, the double-stranded pieces of DNA are denatured into single strands within the gel and transferred from the gel onto a blotting membrane. The target DNA is broken into small fragments using restriction endonucleases and is separated by electrophoresis. Extraction, purification, fragmentation, and separation of target DNA. Each of these examples not only have diagnostic value for patient care but also may help begin to understand the very basis of the disease processes themselves. Southern analysis has been recently used: (1) to facilitate prenatal diagnosis of sickle cell hemoglobinopathies, (2) to demonstrate human papillomavirus DNA integration in the genome of cervical cancer cells and (3) to demonstrate that oncogene amplification in the tumors of patients with node positive breast cancer correlates inversely with prognosis. Several examples of the clinical applications of these methods are discussed in Table 4. Southern blotting can be used to discern genetic deletions, alterations, or amplifications that are not detectable by cytogenetic methods. Together these two techniques have greatly aided in the growing knowledge of genetics on a molecular level. DNA isolation and Southern Blot analysis are two of the many techniques currently being used routinely by molecular biologists to discover genetic defects that affect human health. |
